Steve's notes to me here, and a few photos

"Hi Bob and Dub,
On owning a few deltas over the last five years i needed to get up some speed and
recently lost an Arrow due to leaving it out in the rain for 3 days.
Bingo i got hold of 2 more and decided one would be for just knocking around
and the other a real fast job. "Jett" to the rescue and ordered one straight
away from the website with my requirements of the set up i wanted. It had to
be side exhaust as a lot of planes wont allow rear exhaust. On fitting the
engine in the "Beast" as i call it i found the needle valve in a tricky
place to adjust. Well as a toolmaker for most of my working life, this was
not a problem. Shave the pin down and bend it again plus put a 90 degree
airline bend in the fuel pipe as the turn was only gonna crimp the pipe. The
holes in the "Jett" seem to be pretty much the standard spacing as other
engines of this size so no need to hack the mount and in it went. This
particular Arrow has an airbrake which we feel is a tad dodgy should it
activate at the wrong time. I ran the engine for about 45 mins on the bench
and stayed with the prop thats still in it now as we wanted the performance
but not to scare the hell out of us. In Caddington Luton UK where i fly its
been up a few times now and all i can say is "What an animal" . We have
removed the airbrake now as the Arrow was so fast it "Brickwalled" plus
moved the C of G forward and shes fine. I dont think anyone should try n get
more speed from the Arrow as its a handfull anyway. I shall get another
"jett" in time for other projects no doubt about that.

If ya own a "Jett" then hang on to ya hat.
