Universal Remote Needle Valve
Instructions

Thank you very much for buying a Jett Universal Remote Needle Valve Assembly. Jett NVA's have been developed and refined over the years to provide you with the best 2-cycle carburetion in the world. It you do not agree, or have other comments, please contact Dub Jett at Jett Engineering, Inc.

This assembly is made to mount on the back of your engine and is usually supplied in the standard position, which is with the needle above the backplate, and pointed to the left. This is only one of many positions you can mount the assembly. If you choose to reposition the assembly, then remove the upper left hand backplate bolt from the engine. Notice that the screw on the right (supplied with Jetts only) is not holding the NVA. This screw is only an alignment pin and can be used, or removed as required by your particular application.

On Jetts there is a hole (or two) in the backplate for the alignment pin. This (these) hole(s) are centered such that you can move the remote to the right or left, or up or down, and still use the pin for rigidity. In its current configuration, you may mount the remote to the right by flipping it over and placing the long backplate screw in the right hole. On other engines just use the appropriate backplate screw.

Also note that the NVA aluminum bracket is symmetrical. If you wish to mount to the lower left, or upper right, then disassemble the brass parts (not the fuel fitting) from the bracket and reverse their direction. Everything will fit, but make sure the holes in the brass needle valve body line up with the brass fuel outlet fitting (in the center) when you put them back together. (it will align slightly above the hole for the fuel fitting-not perfectly). Just blow thru the parts to make sure you have it right.

With this in mind, you can configure your remote to fit in 16 different right angle directions on your backplate. On side exhaust Jett engines (except certain "lite" versions) you can rotate the backplate around so that you can continue to use the alignment pin. It is not necessary, however, and you can remove the ¼" alignment screw and mount the remote at any angle you wish. The number of possible positions just went up to infinity!!

Now, here is the best part. You can take the remote off the engine and use it just about anywhere you want, which is what we really recommend. I like to mount them on the firewall in some convenient place with #4 wood screws. The only rule is to try to keep the needle on a reasonably straight line between the carb fuel fitting and the center of the fuel tank. Do not worry about the amount of fuel tubing you use. Unless you have about two feet you will not have a problem, except maybe getting the prime all the way to the engine.

Q-500 MOUNTING: In Q-500, with the engine mounted sideways, the best, safest and low-drag way is to mount the remote right behind the engine fins. Note that the mounting screws holes are in the back-this usually precludes your screwing directly into the firewall. We place a small piece of 1/8 plywood either inside the fuse or on the outside to give you a place to drill your holes. Use #4 sheet metal screws and a 1/16 pilot. Drill the outlet for the fuel line on your Bubble-Jett tank about 1" or so behind the nipple/remote. This gives you a nice place to put your pinch off clamp.

Thanks again for buying Jett!
